We are a chapter of the largest advocacy organization in the United States and a leading resource for advocacy information and support. Our advocacy services are free of charge to families and individuals in Mercer County.
Since 2004, our advocacy efforts have focused on helping families with children maneuver the special education process to ensure a positive, quality education. We help parents understand their child’s rights to a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment, as guaranteed by law. Our education advocates guide parents through everything from determining eligibility for special services, to preparing for Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Our purpose is to ensure that schools make an effort to help students with disabilities achieve their educational goals.
what we can do
Provide resources and information about your rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) and applicable state regulations
Provide resources to school districts and Early Intervention providers to help design and deliver supports and services that guarantee students with disabilities the opportunity to make progress on their educational goals
Since 1952, we have been a leading provider of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today, we promote human rights, provide residential services and create employment opportunities for those with disabilities.
Whether it's becoming a member or donating a monetary gift, help us raise awareness and create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. There are a number of different ways to get involved with The Arc of Mercer County.
Help us continue to provide services that improve the quality of life for people with special needs.
