Special Needs Planning
Families often wonder what the future will be like for their child with special needs. Who will take care
of him when they no longer can?
These questions may be too overwhelming to think about. But, with all the changes in funding and services we’re
going through now, this may be the best time to start making plans for a child’s future.
The Arc of Mercer County Foundation provides helpful information to families and caregivers that cover issues
such as guardianship, trusts, wills,
power of attorney, SSI, Medicaid, and income protection.
The Arc of Mercer County has set up a pooled trust through the Shenango
Valley Community Foundation. This trust provides a way for families and caregivers to maintain a lifestyle for
their child after they are no longer providing care.
