Since the 1970s, MCAR has offered residential services to individuals with intellectual and developmental
disabilities. We provide a safe, secure home where an individual enjoys an everyday life, lives in the community,
and makes his own choices.
MCAR owns and operates 17 group homes in the community. Three of these are for medically fragile individuals, and three are homes for people with unique behavioral needs. No more than four individuals live in a group home residence. At least one staff person is on duty at all times to offer care,
cook meals, and provide transport to the residents.
MCAR's Nursing Department provides medical support for our Residential Program. Our team of talented and caring
nurses monitors and assesses the health of our residents, manages medications and prescriptions, supervises
doctors' instructions, and assists individuals at medical appointments and hospital admissions. A nurse is always
on call for staff assistance and emergencies.
We also offer respite care for families and individuals. This can take place in
our respite care home, in one of our group homes, in the home of a staff person, or in the individual’s own
For individuals not needing 24-hour supervision, MCAR offers independent living supports. Individuals receiving
this service live in their own homes. Support is provided through MCAR’s Habilitation Aid program.
MCAR operates a Life Sharing program, also known as Family Living. This option
offers a way for an individual to live with a family or person in a caring household and family unit.
