What Is The Arc of Mercer County?
The Arc of Mercer County is a member of the Arc of Pennsylvania, a statewide advocacy organization for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founded by a group of parents, the goal of the Arc of Pennsylvania is to promote the general welfare of and develop a better understanding of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc of Mercer County is committed to this goal and represents the needs and wants of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that live in Mercer County.

The Arc of Mercer County is dedicated to advocating for programs and services that will help our individuals reach their fullest potential and become vital members of the community. We believe that each individual should be given the opportunity to make his or her own decision about where they live, work, and play.

By becoming a member of the Arc of Mercer County, you show your commitment to individuals with intellectual and development disabilities here in Mercer County and our region. Your support enables the Arc of Mercer County to promote initiatives and ideas that will guarantee a positive future for generations to come. As a member you will receive the Arc of Mercer County newsletter, the Arc of PA newsletter, representation on local, state, and national policy forums, and the opportunity to volunteer your time and talent through volunteer work.

Why Should You Join The Arc of Mercer County?

  • Since 1952, the Arc of Mercer County has taken the lead in protecting the rights of and promoting opportunities for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, community services, education, and family supports.
  • Your membership gives the Arc of Mercer County more influence at the state level as we promote initiatives for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in rural counties like Mercer County.
  • Through MCAR, the Arc of Mercer County provides caring professionals to team with parents in the home or other natural settings to give their children the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential.
  • Through MCAR, the Arc of Mercer County provides vocational supports that enable men and women to join the work force, earn wages, and contribute to the economy of their communities.
  • Through MCAR, the Arc of Mercer County provides residential supports to help adults to live as independently as possible in homes in their own communities or in homes provided by MCAR.
  • Through MCAR, the Arc of Mercer County offers respite care that provides trained, caring, and trusted caregivers so parents may have some much needed leisure time – from a few hours to a week or more.
