Group Home Living

MCAR owns and operates 17 group homes located in the community. All are single-family, one-level houses that are well-kept, comfortable, safe, and can accommodate wheel chairs and walkers.

A MCAR group home residence is like any regular home -- with the same types of accommodations, furnishings, and activities. The individuals who live in our group homes are supported 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by loving, caring staff. Staff assist residents with developing skills that will allow the individuals the greatest independence and satisfaction possible.

Our residential staff are well trained to care for people with disabilities and to help them with their daily needs, like bathing and dressing. They are also trained in fire safety, medical emergencies and procedures, prescription handling and dispensing, and behavior modification. Every staff person maintains current CPR and required health certifications.

Each group home resident has his own bedroom that is decorated the way he wants and with his furnishings. Our residents share the common living areas and enjoy their meals together. Each home has its own vehicle to transport residents to day programs, medical appointments, and to enjoy recreational and social activities in the community.

More than just providing skilled care to our individuals, our residential staff treat every person living in one of our homes as a valued member of MCAR's "family" — with dignity, care, and respect.
