MCAR's Adult Training Center is intended for individuals with significant intellectual and developmental
disabilities. These are usually people who can't or aren't ready to participate in our vocational training program.
The goal of this program is to promote self-esteem and to increase and maintain an individual's independence.
We offer activities that focus on a person's specific needs and interests. We concentrate on teaching basic life
skills such as nutrition, hygiene, and grooming. We also emphasize communication and cognitive skills development,
including recognizing letters, colors, shapes, and numbers. Our program offers a variety of cooking, arts and
crafts, music, and other activities that spark individuals' interests.
Our Adult Training Center offers many opportunities for individuals to socialize and make friends and to be
involved in the community. We plan a number of community activities and outings as well as participate in volunteer
projects, such as baking Thanksgiving pies for group homes and recycling cans in support of kidney dialysis.
